On December 21, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) held its 4th annual Young Teachers’ Teaching Competition. SUSTech Vice President Zhang Dongxiao and Teaching Affairs Director Huang Kefu oversaw 31 young educators from across campus present demonstration classes.
The classes were judged by experts from both inside and outside SUSTech, as well as student and faculty representatives. Each competing teacher had prepared a different approach to their class, applying different pedagogic principles in their lessons.
The judges provided insightful comments for the participating educators. Constructive criticism encouraged the teachers to learn from others, get more experience, and attend teaching seminars. The feedback provided a positive environment for everyone involved.
In closing the competition, Vice President Zhang Dongxiao said that the award-winning teachers would continue to set high standards for themselves and that everyone would keep working hard to maintain SUSTech’s high pedagogic principles. He encouraged the young teachers to listen to student feedback as part of their self-improvement
The Young Teachers’ Teaching Competition has demonstrably improved the professional level of teaching for young teachers across SUSTech, as well as providing a platform for young teachers to learn and communicate. Their professional development is key to maintaining SUSTech’s high educational standards.
