The afternoon of March 14 saw Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) holds its first publicity and cultural work conference. SUSTech University Council Chairperson Guo Yurong, Vice Chairperson Li Fengliang, and Vice President Lu Chun all attended the conference. Over 300 people from across SUSTech were in attendance.

The conference was the first meeting that sought to analyze the direction of publicity and cultural work at SUSTech as part of the promotion of its goal to build a world-class research university, rooted in China.

SUSTech University Council Chairperson Guo Yurong pointed out that the publicity secretaries at SUSTech must work together to promote SUSTech. She summarized the work that had been done in publicity and cultural development since SUSTech’s establishment, before moving onto the challenges SUSTech had faced in its rapid growth. Chairperson Guo Yurong emphasized the role of campus culture at the core of SUSTech. She encouraged the attendees to pursue excellence in every aspect of their work as she highlighted the importance of the next five to ten years in SUSTech’s cultural development.

Student Affairs Director Xue Zheng and Department of Physics Head He Jiaqing highlighted the importance of developing a campus culture that supports the mission of SUSTech.

SUSTech Secretary-General Chen Siqi focused on the coordination of publicity and cultural work across SUSTech.

Communications and Public Relations Director Zhang Ling reported on the five-year plan for publicity and cultural development at SUSTech. He also explained the implementation of the new visual identification system.

Human Resources Director Chen Zhifeng spoke of some new work measures that were being implemented for publicity and cultural development, as they relate to teaching and education.

SUSTech University Council Vice Chairperson Li Fengliang closed the conference by encouraging everyone to work together towards the overall development of higher education at SUSTech. He hoped that everyone would implement the publicity and cultural work for the benefit of the SUSTech community.
