On October 18th, SUSTech Undergraduate Teaching Conference 2020 was held. SUSTech President Shiyi CHEN and Vice President Dongxiao ZHANG attended the conference. They were joined by heads of academic, administrative, and research departments and representatives of faculty members.

Five reports on teaching and learning, English teaching, and teaching affairs were presented at the conference. They were from the College of Science, the College of Engineering, the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Center for Language Education, and the Office of Teaching Affairs. 

SUSTech President Shiyi CHEN delivered a speech at the conference. He said that education plays an indispensable role in the cultivation of top-notch innovative students. SUSTech has been attaching great importance to teaching and has accumulated experience after years of exploration. Now it reaches a critical stage when the needs of the nation and the times should be taken into consideration and the development of teaching.

The conference aimed to draw online education experience in the first half of the year and further promote teaching reform and development. President Shiyi CHEN expressed his hope that all departments carry out in-depth discussions and put the results of discussion into practice to enable SUSTech to cultivate a large number of students with “national feelings, global vision, comprehensive quality, and innovation ability.”

Director of Teaching Affairs Kefu HUANG delivered a speech on the teaching affairs of 2019-2020 and proposed a plan for undergraduate teaching.

Associate Director of Teaching Affairs and Director of Center for Language Education Yuan LI made a report on English teaching’s status quo and goal.

College of Engineering Vice Dean Bi ZHANG shared his view on ‘Cloud” experiments and some cases of “cloud course” of the College of Engineering amid the epidemic.

Lecturer of the Department of Mathematics from the College of Science Jing YAO shared her teaching general knowledge of math in SUSTech.
