As Shenzhen has overcome the recent outbreaks of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) has successfully arranged for the safe return of all its members back to campus.

SUSTech continues to adhere strictly to its epidemic prevention and control measures. From April 11, the University has put protocols in place for the Class of 2022 and the graduating undergraduate students to return first over the coming days. Beginning on April 18, other undergraduate and graduate students will be able to return for in-person learning to continue the spring semester.

On the morning of April 11, Fengliang LI, University Council Chairperson, greeted students at the main entrance of the University and reviewed the epidemic prevention and control measures in place. He highlighted the importance of strengthening prevention measures such as wearing masks, using hand sanitizers, etc.

On entry to the campus, students must present a green health code, a 48-hour nucleic acid test, and perform temperature checks with security personnel or volunteers.

After entering the University, the students need to go directly to their dormitory and register with the help of the resident staff. For the following three days, they will take daily nucleic acid tests before returning to normal activities on campus.

Afterward, the students will bring their student identification cards and negative nucleic acid test reports to register for their upcoming classes.

Additionally, a live broadcast has also been set up for all members of SUSTech to log in and view the current queue time for the testing site on campus. This way, faculty members and students can use their time efficiently by checking the broadcast to see how long the queue is and arrange their time to attend the testing site.

The Office of Health, Safety and Environment (OHSE) has further strengthened the management of personnel entering and leaving the campus and safety measures around the University. Public areas such as classrooms, laboratories, cafeterias, libraries, transport hubs, sporting facilities, nucleic acid testing site, etc., are disinfected and sanitized throughout the day to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all faculty members and students.

SUSTech wishes all its students a safe return to campus and success in their academic endeavors throughout the upcoming semester.
