The finals of the China International College Students’ Innovation Competition 2025 recently concluded in Zhengzhou.
Five teams from the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) reached the national finals and achieved outstanding results, winning two gold and three silver awards— marking the University’s first-ever national-level gold and silver awards in this competition.


The China International College Students’ Innovation Competition is the largest global innovation event in terms of participation. According to the 2024 National College Student Competition Analysis Report released by the China Association of Higher Education (CAHE), it ranks first among all national university competitions.
This year’s event was co-hosted by 11 ministries and commissions, including the Ministry of Education, together with the People’s Government of Henan Province, and organized by Zhengzhou University and Zhengzhou Municipal People’s Government. The competition attracted over 6.19 million projects submitted by 24.43 million participants from 5,673 universities across 161 countries and regions. In the end, 4,720 projects advanced to the national finals, competing across five categories.

SUSTech had five projects qualify for the national finals and secured two gold and three silver awards. The gold-winning teams, guided by Chair Professors Xingyu JIANG and Liansheng WU, demonstrated exceptional creativity and technical excellence.
In recent years, SUSTech has placed strong emphasis on innovation and entrepreneurship education, providing comprehensive support ranging from project incubation and competition training to industrialization and commercialization. The Office of Student Affairs, in collaboration with various schools and departments, coordinated the University’s participation in this year-long competition. Through training camps, internal selection rounds, intensive project refinement, and mock presentations, the teams continuously enhanced the quality and impact of their projects.
