At the 7th China Conference on Robotics (CCRS), Associate Professor Chengzhi HU from the Department of Mechanical and Energy Engineering at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) was awarded the 8th “Xiong Youlun Zhihu Outstanding Young Scholar Award.”

The “Xiong Youlun Zhihu Outstanding Young Scholar Award” was established in 2018 through a donation by Academician Youlun XIONG to recognize outstanding young scholars who have made significant contributions in robotics and related fields. The award is reviewed once a year, with no more than three recipients each time.

Chengzhi HU mainly focuses on research in automated microscopic control, biosensing, micro-nano robots, and other single-cell analysis and tumor-targeted therapy technologies. He joined SUSTech in June 2018 and is the head of one of SUSTech’s first “Dual Leader” studios. He has received awards such as the 2024 MINE Young Scientist Award and the Nagoya University Academic Reward. He currently serves as a Director of the Micro-Nano Robot Branch of the Chinese Society of Micro-Nanotechnology, is a senior member of IEEE, and is on the editorial boards and youth editorial boards of journals like Cyborg and Bionic Systems (CBS), Microsystems & Nanoengineering (MINE), SmartBot, and Exploration. Over the past five years, he has led 14 high-level competitive research projects, including the national key R&D program focused on “diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and biomaterials” (youth project), the general program of the National Natural Science Foundation, Shenzhen’s key basic research projects, and the Shenzhen Medical Academy of Research and Translation (SMART) project on medical auxiliary devices and reagent development.

The China Conference on Robotics is a national conference jointly initiated by academic organizations such as the Robotics Branch of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, the Technical Committee on Robotics of the Chinese Association of Automation, and the Robotics Committee of the Chinese Society of Astronautics. It aims to provide a platform for communication and collaboration for China’s robotics research institutions and enterprises, promoting innovation in robotics technology and applications. Since 2018, the China Conference on Robotics has been successfully held six times, becoming one of the most influential academic conferences in the field of robotics in China.
