On September 7^th, the new semester officially began. Qikun XUE, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and President of the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), led a team to inspect classrooms in the Chi Wah Lecture Hall and Lecture Hall 1, accompanied by representatives from the Office of the Provost, the Teaching Affairs Office, and the Graduate School.

Qikun XUE and his team went deep into general education and specialized courses such as “College Physics,” “Mathematical Analysis,” “Materials Chemistry,” and “SUSTech English,” and closely observed class proceedings. In the “Analog Circuits” class, Qikun XUE had a quiet chat with the instructor to understand the course content. In the “SUSTech English” class, the instructor used group teaching to actively engage students and boost classroom interaction, and Qikun XUE praised the lively and dynamic classroom atmosphere. He fully recognized the faculty’s dedicated and rigorous teaching approach and the students’ focused and energetic learning spirit.

Afterward, Qikun XUE and his team also visited the auditorium in the Research Building 1. He pointed out that well-built campus infrastructure is a crucial foundation for ensuring smooth teaching operations and improving educational effectiveness. Relevant departments should proactively think ahead and take initiative, systematically pushing the AI-powered education reform to take effect, sticking to the principle of “technology serving teaching, intelligence empowering education,” and using digital teaching reform to steadily enhance the quality of talent cultivation in the university.

To genuinely improve teaching conditions for faculty and students, the Teaching Affairs Office carried out a comprehensive and detailed renovation of the Research Building 1 auditorium during the summer of 2026. The renovated auditorium can accommodate over 300 people and supports various scenarios, including online and offline classes, large lectures, and academic presentations. The Teaching Affairs Office also worked with relevant departments and teaching units to plan course schedules, providing full support for students’ course selection. Before the semester began, they organized multimedia operation teams and facility management staff to inspect over 150 teaching spaces, including multimedia classrooms and computer labs, ensuring all equipment functioned properly and supporting smooth teaching during the fall semester.

Statistics show that in the fall semester of 2026, 32 teaching units offered a total of 573 undergraduate courses (1073 classes) and 284 graduate courses (367 classes).
