Professor Qingfeng ZHANG from the Southern University of Science and Technology’s (SUSTech) Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering was named a distinguished lecturer for the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society for 2027–2029.

Professor Qingfeng ZHANG is an IET Fellow and a Senior Member of IEEE. His main research area is information electromagnetics, with a special focus on using dispersion engineering to study the interaction between electromagnetic waves and information. He is one of the founders and the first vice-chair of the IEEE AP-S Shenzhen Chapter, which won the IEEE AP-S Outstanding Chapter Award in 2022. Starting in 2025, he has served as Associate Editor for the IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters and received the journal’s Outstanding Associate Editor Award in 2026. He has won the 2018 URSI-RASC Young Scientist Award, the 2018 ACES Young Scientist Award, and the Best Paper Award at the 15th Global Symposium on Millimeter-Waves & Terahertz (GSMM 2024), and he serves as a Distinguished Lecturer for Electromagnetic Science.
The IEEE Distinguished Lecturer program was established in 1986. It selects the most outstanding researchers in each field to serve as Distinguished Lecturers for a three-year term, aiming to disseminate the latest research findings and popularize new knowledge and technologies. During their term, Distinguished Lecturers travel to universities and research institutions worldwide on IEEE funding, give academic talks, and serve as ambassadors for the society, promoting international academic exchange in the field of antennas and propagation.
