SUSTech-Apostle Joint Program Officially Launched

On 23rd March, SUSTech hosted the Launch Ceremony of SUSTech-Apostle Program and Seminar, Professor Charles Cantor. Professor Charles Cantor is an renowned scientist and the member of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States.

The Deputy Secretary General of Shenzhen Wu You, the Director of Municipal Market Inspection Bureau Wu Bing, and other leaders and experts attended the ceremony. NAS Fellow Dr. Charles Cantor and CAS Member, SUSTech President Chen Shiyi unveiled the cooperation projects, namely SUSTech Zhengtu Biotechnology Limited Company.

“I’m very glad to see a young company cooperate with an entrepreneurship university and brings some advanced industrial projects to Shenzhen,” said Charles Cantor. “The company has great potential. I dream that, in 5 to 10 years, liquid biopsy for cancer detection could be widely used in society.”

SUSTech Vice President Wu Chuanyue said SUSTech introduced the young technology team from Silicon Valley to Shenzhen to promote the biotechnology cooperation project themed “Original, Leading, Comprehensive Health.” With an average age of 37, the collaboration works towards the idea that through this project, the future related industries of Shenzhen shall be promoted.

The co-founders of SUSTech Zhengtu Limited Company are Ge Dongliang, Zhang Bo, and Guo Xin. They are from renowned universities like Stanford University and Duke University, all noted for their biotechnology work in the past and present, and with major projects that are looking forward. All of them have made a great impact on academia and industry. The company has also invited Dr. Charles Cantor as a science advisor.

The idea of the liquid precision cancer medicine biopsy originated from Silicon Valley. The core technology of the SUSTech-Apostle Joint Program leads the industrial direction of Cancer Precision Medicine Liquid Biopsy. With investment from China and United States, this project is currently in the industrial stage.

Apostle was also ranked in “The Next Generation: Top 20 Life Science Startups to Watch in 2018” which was reported by BioSpace, a renown American biological medicine website. Only 1 Chinese dominated company entered the rankings.
