On June 28, the founding of Boards of Trustees & Supervisors at SUSTech School of Medicine was held at the SUSTech Hospital Inpatient Department. The event was hosted by Huang Xueping, Standing Committee Member of Nanshan District. Attendees included SUSTech President Chen Shiyi, University Council Vice Chairperson Li Fengliang, Secretary of CPC Nanshan District Committee (NDC) Wang Qiang, Vice Director of Nanshan People’s Congress Standing Committee Zeng Lingge, Director of Nanshan Health and Family Planning Commission Huang Xianfeng, as well as representatives from the SUSTech Hospital, various SUSTech offices, and Nanshan Finance and Auditing Bureaus.

Li Fengliang announced the first members of SUSTech Hospital’s Boards of Trustees and Supervisors: Wang Qiang and Chen Shiyi serve as the Boards’ Chairman and Vice Chairman respectively, while Zeng Lingge is the President of Board of Supervisors.

Next, Chen Shiyi delivered a speech, saying: “The collaboration between SUSTech and Nanshan District led to the name change of Xili Renmin Hospital, which will become the SUSTech Hospital. Today’s event is a further step in the collaboration, which is not only an upgrade to the hospital brand but also a foundation for SUSTech’s medical studies and the introduction of talents. SUSTech has the confidence to build the hospital well by providing high-end equipment, experienced management staff, effective talent introduction scheme, and strong medicine education teams. I believe it will become a recognized general hospital in the future.”

After that, Wang Qiang spoke: “The founding of Boards of Trustees and Supervisors mark a new beginning of our district’s collaborative hospital project with SUSTech. It also means SUSTech will implement effective policies on hospital management from now on. As the Chairman of both Boards, I will fulfill my duty and take the hospital to steady and rapid development with my colleagues. I am also going to make sure the SUSTech hospital provide comprehensive help to the public and earn their recognition.”

Following the Boards’ official foundation ceremony, Wang Qiang held the Boards’ first meeting and passed a set of regulations. The Board of Trustees and Board of Supervisors are an innovative way of hospital management in China, which will promote the SUSTech hospital’s international orientation and its effective implementation of social roles.
