July 12’s update of Essential Science Indicators (ESI) ranking saw SUSTech make its debut. Both its chemistry and material science majors were ranked within the top 1% of such majors in the world. SUSTech’s appearance on the list is an honor given its youth. Most universities require an evaluation of over ten years of publications. However, SUSTech’s debut high on the list comes just seven years after its establishment in 2011.
