“Truth from Facts: Creating Knowledge and Innovation!”
Last week, the 2018 Future Network Technology and Engineering International Conference took place at Shenzhen’s Kylin Villa and organized by the Department of Information and Electronic Engineering of the China Academy of Engineering in conjunction with Pengcheng Laboratory. Co-hosting duties were shared between SUSTech, Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School, and the Shenzhen China Academy of Engineering. Director Liang Yongsheng of the Shenzhen Science and Technology Commission, Director Gao Wen of Pengcheng Laboratory, President Wu Yundong of Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School and SUSTech University Council Vice Chairperson Li Fengliang were among the high-profile attendees at the conference.
This conference is a joint, high-level, platform for government, universities, scientific research institutions, telecommunications operators, network equipment manufacturers and internet companies. It gives participants an opportunity to highlight the latest scientific and technological achievements while exploring the key technologies of future networks. It also seeks to build cooperative bridges so opportunities can be seized in the future network fields and provide benefits to all parties.
The conference focused on the urgent needs of users for the network, as well as the difficulties and challenges faced by the current network. They also examined the development trends and progress in the future networks, the key technologies of the network and the various iterations of the reconstruction of current operator networks. There were also seminars and discussions about the construction of future network test facilities, engineering practice, and innovative applications. Experts and corporate executives that work in the field of network information both in and out of China shared their insights and experience of future network technologies, blockchain technologies, and industrial applications.
Li Fengliang spoke at the opening ceremony on behalf of SUSTech. He welcomed all the attendees and introduced SUSTech to them. He also spoke about the strategic planning of SUSTech’s future network project, and how it related to running our university. He said that SUSTech has attached great importance to its future network project and wants to cooperate with the future network community in the future.
Dean Liu Yunjie of SUSTech’s Future Network Research Institute gave a keynote speech on the important topic of “Building a Ubiquitous Cloud Network.” He focused on interpreting the current network dilemma and analyzed the development trend of the future network. He pointed out that in order to build a powerful network, organizations need to lay out the future network ahead of schedule, accelerate the construction of new future network facilities and promote compatibility between existing and future network developments.
As one of the co-hosts of the conference, SUSTech provided strong support for the entire meeting. It has been said that the Future Network Research Institute will be an important scientific research unit in the future academic field of online testing, with SUSTech constructing future network test facilities along with areas for research into academic fields such as software-defined networks, network virtualization, data center networks, edge computing, Internet of Things and blockchain technology. At the same time, SUSTech will continue to support the Future Network Research Institute in actively building a high-end international exchange platform and conducting further cooperation with global leaders in the field, whether they be global telecommunications operators, network equipment manufacturers, leading Internet enterprises or leaders in areas that do not yet exist in areas that are yet to be created.
