Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) was the host venue for the unveiling of two new institutions to assist Yunnan Province in developing its scientific, technological and entrepreneurial bases. SUSTech Council Chairperson Guo Yurong joined Director Xu Bin of the Yunnan Department of Science and Technology.

SUSTech Chief Financial Officer Ye Qin hosted the ceremony that saw the launch of the Yunnan Science and Technology Enterprise Training Base, as well as the Yunnan Science and Technology Entrepreneur Training Course.

Guo Yurong welcomed Xu Bin and the delegation from Yunnan Province. She said that Yunnan Province’s Department of Science and Technology had organized their entrepreneurs of science and technology to receive training at SUSTech at a special time.

The training course aims to solve common concerns of the Yunnan entrepreneurs, and reasonable arrangements have been made in terms of curriculum, teacher allocation, and teaching methods. Guo Yurong expected that the scientific and technological research and development advantages of SUSTech would pair well with the rich resource advantages of Yunnan Province to provide maximum utility to all parties.

Xu Bin said that the Yunnan Provincial Science and Technology Department sought to set up their science and technology enterprise training base at SUSTech to strengthen Yunnan Province and to promote strategic cooperation between Yunnan Province and SUSTech. The base will build an essential bridge connecting scientific and technological innovations and achievements between Yunnan and Shenzhen. It would also provide further links for project cooperation, and develop an important platform for creating a talent pipeline between Yunnan and Shenzhen. He pointed out that the learning and training of entrepreneurs that would take place at SUSTech would also promote the sharing of scientific and technological information, innovations and ideas for enterprises in Yunnan and Shenzhen.

This is the first “Technical Enterprise Training Base” set up by the Yunnan Science and Technology Department in any college or university. It is also a lynchpin of the strategic cooperation agreement between SUSTech and the Yunnan Science and Technology Department.
