Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) was the site for the Emerging Optoelectronics Industry Forum that SUSTech co-hosted with Zhejiang University. SUSTech President Chen Shiyi was joined by President of Zhejiang University’s College of Optical Science and Engineering Liu Xiangdong and President of China Merger & Acquisition Fund Co., Ltd. Cheng Houbo.
President Chen Shiyi congratulated the Shenzhen University Alumni Association for their establishment. He anticipated that both SUSTech and Zhejiang University would take the opportunity presented at this forum to carry out further cooperation in the optoelectronics field. More than 120 people attended the forum, including senior leaders from leading higher education institutions, optoelectronic manufacturers and investment firms.
Liu Xiangdong was methodical in his analysis of the national optoelectronic industry and his thoughts on the related talent education. He shared his vision of the coordinated development of optoelectronic education and industry. Liu Xiangdong believed that relying on the strength of alumni would help promote the connection between the talent cultivation policies of both the Pearl River Delta and the Yangtze River Delta. This would benefit the optoelectronic industry and realize their coordinated development, as well as the progress of both optoelectronic education and industry.
Cheng Houbo analyzed the prospects of financial investment and entrepreneurship at this stage of the industry, starting with the domestic and international situations. He emphasized that the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, centered on Shenzhen, must be driven by technological innovation to promote sustainable economic development.
The forum focused on development strategies and action plans for the industry. It sought to reach and did reach a consensus on the coordinated development of education and industry.
