SUSTech-ARM China Advanced Chip Design Joint Lab unveiled

Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) and ARM Technology (China) Co., Ltd. (ARM China) unveiled the SUSTech-Arm Advanced Chip Design Joint Laboratory this week.

SUSTech President Chen Shiyi and Vice President Teng Jinguang were joined by Shenzhen Municipal Government Deputy Secretary-General Wu You, Shenzhen Municipal Science and Technology Innovation Commission Deputy Director Zhong Hai, and Vice President of ARM China (Business) Liu Runguo. Director of Major Projects Office Wang Susheng presided over the event. Senior leaders from educational bodies, universities, government and industry also attended the unveiling ceremony.

Teng Jinguang said that the SUSTech-ARM Advanced Chip Design Joint Laboratory would bring new development opportunities to both sides, particularly throughout the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, as well as China’s national integrated circuit industry.

Liu Runguo said that ARM China would support SUSTech in developing its curriculum and academic disciplines. They would work together on developing new disciplines around technologies and applications such as artificial intelligence, Internet of Things and embedded systems.

ARM China will provide various resources to the laboratory and support the development of local chip development and design talents. They would also create a model of integration for production, education, and research while promoting independent innovation of chip design in China.

ARM China Director Chen Wei and SUSTech-HKUST Joint School of Microelectronics (In Preparation) Executive Director Yu Hongyu signed a cooperation agreement on behalf of ARM China and SUSTech.
