World Tuberculosis Day discussion hosted on campus
Chris Edwards | 04/03/2019

Tuberculosis is a serious concern globally. World Tuberculosis Day, observed on 24 March each year, is designed to build public awareness about the global epidemic of tuberculosis (TB) and efforts to eliminate the disease.

To make sure that people across campus are made aware of the plans for tuberculosis prevention and control, the Office of Safety, Health and Environment at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) worked with Nanshan District to host a lecture on this very topic.

Doctor Zhan Guangxing from the Nanshan District Institute of Chronic Diseases in Shenzhen provided the lecture. He gave a detailed explanation about the characteristics, prevention and control of tuberculosis, including daily management and emergency treatment of tuberculosis in schools. There was a detailed focus on the symptoms and preventative measures for tuberculosis.

This lecture has improved public health safety awareness for teachers and students while creating a healthy campus environment.
