On December 22, the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) launched its Sports and Health Club (Health Club). The Health Club seeks to strengthen the communication between entrepreneurs across the Greater Bay Area (GBA) within the broader umbrella of a healthier lifestyle.

SUSTech President Chen Shiyi, Vice President Zhang Dongxiao, Communications, and Public Relations Director Zhang Ling, School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Dean Liu Ke, Green Pine Capital Partners founder Li Wei and BGI Sports CEO Cao Jun all attended the launch ceremony. All the students from the iLEAP program were joined by SUSTech undergraduate and postgraduate students.

President Chen Shiyi welcomed all the attendees, saying that great entrepreneurs and scientists must have healthy bodies, so the Health Club will help entrepreneurs across the Greater Bay Area to to build up networks in different ways. He hoped that everyone would contribute to the progress of society. President Chen Shiyi anticipated that the club would become better at supporting healthy entrepreneurs that make significant contributions to China’s economic development.

School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Dean Liu Ke said that SUSTech trains scientists, engineers, and business leaders, hence the significance of the Future Business Leaders Program (iLEAP). He pointed out the importance of team-building through sport and hoped that the Health Club would see improved connections between SUSTech students and GBA entrepreneurs.

Green Pine Capital Partners founder Li Wei focused on the new beginnings that have arisen from the Health Club. He hoped that there would be more innovative entrepreneurial activities on SUSTech.

BGI Sports CEO Cao Jun stressed the importance of physical education for university students. Clubs like the Health Club encourage interactions between students, teachers, and entrepreneurs through exercise.

Following the launch ceremony, Li Wei and Cao Jun led a hike up Tanglang Mountain with some of the Health Club members.
