On April 10, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) had two of its faculty elected to online curriculum development platforms and advisory committees for mainland Chinese universities and colleges. International Center for Higher Education Innovation under the auspices of UNESCO Director Professor Ming LI joined the expert committee. SUSTech Center for Higher Education Research (CHER) Deputy Director Jianhua ZHAO was selected for the advisory group.
The announcement of these selections came as China seeks to summarize its online teaching experience during the COVID-19 outbreak. The platforms, committees, and groups will work together to contribute to China’s strength in online higher education as it pivots towards supporting globalized online learning for higher education.
The Ministry of Education (MoE) will support the expanded use of massive open online course (MOOC) platforms, based on a solid foundation that supports international education across the globe. It will seek to bring together the best institutions, educators, and classes in mainland China to provide high-impact digital resources and educational services to university students across the globe.
