On March 12, Clarivate released the latest Essential Science Indicators (ESI) data, and SUSTech’s “Neuroscience and Behavior” has scored in the global top 1% in ESI for the first time. To date, our university has three disciplines in the global top 1‰ and 18 disciplines in the global top 1% according to ESI.

The newly released ESI data covers the period from January 2015 to December 2025 (a total of 11 years). Our university’s discipline of “Neuroscience and Behavior” ranks in the top 0.990% globally in ESI, with a total of 343 SCI papers published and 8,327 cumulative citations.
ESI is currently one of the important indicators commonly used internationally to evaluate the academic level and influence of research institutions and universities. As an in-depth analytical research tool based on the Web of Science Core Collection, ESI collects statistics on the number of papers published and citation data over the past decade for more than 12,000 journals included in SCI/SSCI. It covers a total of 22 subject areas, providing scientific research performance statistics and research strength rankings for countries, institutions, and journals.
