On July 21, 2021, the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) welcomed Duanchao WEN, Chairman of China Huadian Engineering Co., Ltd (CHEC), and his delegation.

Fengliang LI, University Council Chairperson, and Yusheng ZHAO, Acting Vice President and Dean of the SUSTech Academy for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies, met with the guests to discuss various topics.

Duanchao WEN spoke highly of SUSTech’s achievements and its philosophy. He hopes to diversify cooperation with SUSTech in hydrogen energy development, clean energy research, renewable energy utilization, and scientific research personnel training.

He added that both parties would work closely together to achieve world-class scientific and technological achievements and serve the country’s economic development.

Chairperson Fengliang LI said that SUSTech has a good foundation in its discipline structure, technological research, cultivating top talents, and developing the energy sector. He added that the University would cooperate with CHEC in many aspects to promote industrial scientific and technological innovation.

Acting Vice President Yusheng ZHAO gave a brief summary of the current state of affairs at SUSTech. Haijiang WANG, Chair Professor of the Department of Mechanical and Energy Engineering (MEE) and co-founder of SUSTech’s fuel cell industrialization team, spoke in detail about SUSTech’s hydrogen fuel cell industrialization.

After the meeting, Duanchao WEN and his delegation visited the SUSTech Pico Center, Cryo-Electron Microscopy Center, and the Shenzhen Automotive Fuel Cell Stack Engineering Laboratory.

Shengguo ZHAO, Vice Chairman of Huadian Heavy Industries Co., Ltd., Peijun WU, Director at CHEC, and heads from the relevant departments of SUSTech also attended the meeting.
