On September 18, Ms. Sarah Mann, British Consul-General in Guangzhou, and her delegation visited the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech).
Hong Jiang, University Council Chairperson of SUSTech, and other representatives held discussions with the guests.
Chairperson Hong Jiang warmly welcomed Consul-General Mann’s visit and introduced the current cooperation between SUSTech and the UK. She made special mention of the SUSTech-King’s School of Medicine, saying that its successful development is a testament to the unwavering efforts of both sides. Chairperson Jiang emphasized that an international vision and the concept of internationalized research and education have been crucial pillars of the University’s development strategy. She looked forward to continued partnership between SUSTech and UK institutions.
Ms. Sarah Mann expressed her gratitude for the warm reception of SUSTech and acknowledged the rapid development of the University and the achievements of the SUSTech-King’s School of Medicine. She mentioned that both China and UK governments agreed on the importance of cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The British Consulate-General in Guangzhou is committed to building an exchange platform for higher education cooperation between China and the UK. She looks forward to Chinese and British universities further deepening their mutual understanding and promoting in-depth cooperation in broader areas, particularly global health, climate change, and sustainability, for the benefit of the world.
Li Jin, Vice President of SUSTech, outlined the University’s development stages, education initiatives, research achievements, global partnerships, and strategic goals. He emphasized that SUSTech is committed to promoting the internationalization of education and scientific research and will continue to enhance its international influence through collaborations with renowned universities worldwide.
