Last weekend saw Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) send its Student Table Tennis team to Shandong Luneng Table Tennis School for the 9th China University Students’ Sunshine Sports Table Tennis Competition. It was the first time SUSTech had participated, where they competed with nearly 30 teams from across the country.

The mixed group competition includes men’s singles, women’s singles, and mixed doubles. The competition uses a five-game three-win system. In the first stage, SUSTech lost 2:3 to Harbin Engineering University, but defeated the Gansu University of Political Science and Law 4:1 to advance to the top 12. The SUSTech team dug deep and ultimately finished second in the mixed group.

The SUSTech table tennis team was led by Director Dong Lunhong, and Ms. He Zilin of the SUSTech Sports Center served as the coach.
