Good morning, professors, fellow students, and administrative staff. My name is Vearakbot and I come from the Kingdom of Cambodia.
It is a great honour and joy to stand before you today as I begin this exciting new chapter of my life in China.
Cambodia and China share a long history of friendship, and I feel privileged to be part of this ongoing cultural exchange. As a student, I am here not only to learn from textbooks, but also to learn from all of you, your language, your traditions, your perspectives, and your way of life.
Leaving home is never easy, especially when stepping into a new country with different customs and rhythms. But I believe that growth begins at the edge of our comfort zones. I am ready to embrace the challenges, celebrate the differences, and build bridges of understanding between our cultures.
Okay, I'm going to be frank with you all. On this day a year ago, I was locked in a cycle, studying hard for my national examinations while feeling uncertain about my future. Today, I stand in one of the most esteemed and prestigious institutions in the technological hub of China. And I'm sure that there are a lot of people in the crowd who are of the same mind as me.
And For that reason, I would like to thank the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of Cambodia and SUSTech for allowing me to have this opportunity. I hope to contribute my own experiences, ideas, and energy to this community.
Whether through classroom discussions, group projects, or simple conversations over lunch, I look forward to learning together and growing together.
Once again, thank you for welcoming me so warmly. I am excited for the journey ahead, and I promise to make the most of every moment.
