On January 20th, Vice-Chairman of NPC Standing Committee and Chairman of the Central Committee of the Jiusan Society, Wu Weihua, came to Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). The delegation included senior leaders from government and the Jiusan Society. SUSTech Council Chairperson, Guo Yurong and Vice President Lu Chun were among the many senior university leaders who met the delegation.

The delegation was first taken to the 3D campus construction planning sand table, where they were briefed on the future development plans of SUSTech.

Subsequently, Wu and his entourage visited SUSTech’s Cryo-Electron Microscopy Center to know more about its development. During the visit, Wu Weihua felt that SUSTech had built a very good technology platform which is fully prepared for basic research, particularly cutting-edge basic research. He hoped that SUSTech could further establish effective mechanisms to make full use of its scientific research platforms and resources, in order to produce better scientific research results, cultivate more outstanding talents, and finally give back to the society.

Wu also visited the school library, the residential colleges and other places around campus. Guo Yurong gave Wu an introduction of the undergraduate enrollment system and the training features of the “credit system, academic system, and tutor system” in SUSTech. Wu appreciated the achievements of SUSTech in recent years and made suggestions on the future development of the school.
