The School of System Design and Intelligent Manufacturing of Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) held the “Da Vinci Challenge Camp – 2019 Winter Camp”, which provided a platform for students who like hand-on, exploration and innovation to learn and develop. It also provided a good opportunity for students to find their own interests and find like-minded partners. More than 100 students attended the activity.

The winter camp lasted for 7 days, taking the form of a project competition. Students were divided into two groups, the Old Driver group and Cute Novice group, based on their school level. Students would conceive innovative product and technology development plans and design the targets within 7 to 24 hours based on the mission objectives and materials and equipment provided by winter camp.

The school arranged 13 experienced seniors to serve as coaches, providing basic skills training and mentoring for each team. The activity also invited scholars and entrepreneurs to give lectures to students, such as the Chairman of DJI-Innovations, Chair Professor Li Zexiang of the School of System Design and Intelligent Manufacturing, Professor Fred Han of the Design Department of Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). They spoke about robot product development and cogitation, as well as their entrepreneurial experience and robot competitions.
