From December 16 to 18, Li Ming, Chairman of university council of South University of Science and Technology of China (SUSTC), visited several most outstanding leading high schools in Shaanxi Province, including Middle School Attached to Northwestern Polytechnical University, Xi’an Gaoxin No. 1 High School and High School Affiliated to Xi’an Jiaotong University. He held talks with the school’s leaders and key senior grade three teachers, introduced SUSTC’s latest achievements in talent training and university construction, and sincerely expected senior high school students to apply to SUSTC. His visit raised the curtain of SUSTC’s 2016 Undergraduate Enrollment.

At around 11 AM December 16, upon arrival in Xi’an, Li led the enrollment team of SUSTC to Xi’an Gaoxin No. 1 High School. They held talks with Wang Shufang, principal of the school; members of the school’s leading body; as well as the school’s academic director and key senior grade three teachers. With an innovative model of talent selection and training, a strong faculty and rich teaching resources, SUSTC is developing into a top university rapidly, said Li, expecting to establish close and longstanding cooperative relations with the school. Many students at the school have been admitted by SUSTC, said Wang, expressing her satisfaction with SUSTC’s teaching research. The school recognizes SUSTC’s reform, innovation and model of schooling, and will transfer more excellent students to SUSTC, she added. Subsequently, a brief ceremony was held to award the plaque of “outstanding student source base” of SUSTC to the school.

On the morning of December 17, the Enrollment Team led by Li visited Middle School Attached to Northwestern Polytechnical University, and held talks with leaders including Zhang Weihong, vice president of Northwestern Polytechnical University and Wang Yongzhi, principal of the school. Li emphatically introduced SUSTC’s development, enrollment model and features of schooling, undertaking to arrange the school’s students admitted by SUSTC to return to the school during the winter vacation, invite the school’s leaders to investigate SUSTC and achieve new breakthrough in the cooperation between the two sides. SUSTC has developed rapidly, enjoys superior location and has distinct features of schooling, said Wang, pledging that the school will recommend excellent students to SUSTC.

“I attended a seminar on innovative talent training at SUSTC not long ago, learned about its campus, teaching and research, and personally felt its high starting point, high level and internationalization. We will transfer a host of high-quality students to SUSTC in 2016,” said Wang Peidong when extending warm welcome to the delegation led by Li on the morning of December 18. Li introduced SUSTC’s latest progress in such aspects as high-end faculty introduction, college construction, credit system, internationalization and campus construction in the recent year, expecting to deepen relations and enhance exchanges with three to five outstanding high schools in Shaanxi, and expand the scale of enrollment.

While Li was visiting Shaanxi’s leading high schools without a stop, the Shaanxi Enrollment Group made scientific presentations, met with senior grade three teachers and carried out other enrollment activities. Prof. Xu Baomin and Prof. Liu Chongyang made scientific presentations at Xi’an No. 85 Middle School, Baoji High School and Xi’an No. 1 High School, and at Xi’an Gaoxin No. 1 High School, Xi’an Middle School of Shaanxi Province and High School Affiliated to Xi’an Jiaotong University respectively, receiving warm welcome from the students. The group’s communication with the senior grade three teachers at Xi’an Gaoxin No. 1 High School, High School Affiliated to Xi’an Jiaotong University, Xi’an No. 83 Middle School and Xi’an Middle School of Shaanxi Province produced good effects. Many teachers said that they had acquired a deeper understanding of SUSTC and would encourage their students to choose SUSTC.
