Attending academic lectures, observing sophisticated research equipment at close range, doing experiments, communicating with the president of South University of Science and Technology of China (SUSTC), enjoying themselves at the concert…On the noon of December 13, the three-day Technology Innovation Camp for Outstanding High School Students was wrapped up, and 40 senior high school students were honored as “Best Campers”.

The closing ceremony took place on the square before No.1 teaching building at 11:50 AM. Present were Prof. Xia Zhihong from the Department of Mathematics; Prof. He Jiaqing from the Department of Physics; Prof. Zhang Xumu, dean of the Department of Chemistry; Prof. Chen Lang from the Department of Physics; as well as camp staff, all campers, some teachers and campers’ parents.

In the camp, the campers displayed their tremendous disciplinary strength, huge innovation potential, good practical ability and outstanding comprehensive qualities, especially their significant performance in scientific thinking, scientific research and technological innovation. At the ceremony, the “Best Campers” and “Outstanding Campers” were unveiled. Xia, He, Zhang and Chen presented honor certificates to the 40 “Best Campers”.

Zhang made remarks at the closing ceremony. With a strong faculty and abundant learning resources, SUSTC is developing into a world top university rapidly, and the students experienced the real campus life in the camp, said him, welcoming the students to SUSTC for studies.

That morning the campers also climbed up Lianhua Mountain in the center of Shenzhen, paid respects to the bronze statue of Deng Xiaoping, experienced the prosperity of downtown Shenzhen, and visited Shenzhen Museum to feel the pioneering city’s pulse of reform and opening-up.

Farewell is for better meeting. Many students said, “SUSTC is exactly a university I have been yearning for!”, “I will never forget the liveliness and warmness of the college!”, “SUSTC, I will be back!”
