Background: Microfluidic technology, also called lab-on-a-chip, is a technology featured by fluid control in micrometer scale space that can minimize the basic functions of biological and chemical laboratories to a chip of several square centimeters. In recent years, China has developed microfluidic technology from nothing and has formed research forces spread in main universities and scientific research institutes nationwide. Meanwhile, the practical application prospect of microfluidic technology is also gaining more and more attention from the industry circles.
From December 12 to 13, 2015, “2015 Shenzhen-Dalian Joint Conference on Microfluidic Technology and Its Commercialization”, which was jointly organized by SUSTC and Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was held in the lecture hall of the First Scientific Research Building. Researcher Lin Bingcheng of Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Professor Cheng Xin of SUSTC’s Department of Materials Science and Engineering co-chaired the conference. Over 30 Chinese and foreign experts from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, universities and hospitals attended the conference. To strengthen the communication and cooperation with the industry circles, the conference also invited renowned Chinese enterprises in relevant fields such as Shenzhen Mindray Medical, BGI, ET Medical, Hochuen and OrbusNeich. The conference had in-depth discussion and communication on the research and development of core microfluidic technology and its application and commercialization in translational medicine and instant diagnosis.
