Southern University of Science and Technology hosted the 6th Annual Regional Culture Fair at the Lakeside Residential Colleges. The SUSTech Student Union worked with different students groups to organize stalls from 20 different provinces and 2 international stalls (America and Australia).

The Regional Culture Fair is one of the largest and most popular student-led cultural activities. It aims to enrich campus life and showing a diverse range of cultural activities. Students take part in the Fair through trying local food, watching performances and playing games to enjoy different regional cultures.

A traditional Cantonese lion dance kicked off the opening ceremony. Those amazing movements showed the infinite charm of custom culture, featuring a yellow dragon and a red dragon. This was followed by an inspired performance by the Zhiren College Traditional Instruments Ensemble. Other performances through the night included Mongolian flute performances, funny traditional Cantonese songs, witty Chongqing and Sichuan raps, and beautiful Shandong flute tune. The brilliant shows attracted many students.

The fair continued the traditions of the garden party and night market, while adopting Disney-esque decoration for the first time. Gorgeous lights and balloons gave people a new sense of experience. Traditional folk activities such as face-changing, sugar figure painting, bamboo dancing, diabolo, iron hoop pushing, fan painting and dialect contests allowed students and staff to try new cultural pursuits. The international stalls also fascinated students with exotic food and cultural knowledge.
