Earlier this week, the Center for Social Sciences at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) organized its first outdoor practical classes in the spring semester. Pan Liyong, a special researcher at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Social Sciences, led nearly 150 students to Mission Hills Printmaking Village.

Mission Hills Print Village is a typical Hakka residential ancient village. It is divided into east and west districts. There are many printmaking workshops, art studios, galleries and exhibition halls in the eastern district. The western district is an international artist village. Every year, countless domestic and foreign artists gather in the village to create their own artistic pieces. The students observed the antique street signs, ancient wells and ancestral halls and turrets. They also experienced the ancient printing process.

This semester, Pan Liyong will teach two general courses: Leisure Culture and Industry, and Chinese Aesthetic Philosophy. In order for students to understand Shenzhen’s leisure culture industry, he used the weekend to lead students to carry out activities. Students reported this as an entertaining and creative idea.

The “Outdoor Practical Class” series was first launched in 2017 by the Center for Social Sciences.
