Last week, the 16^th University Alumni Work Seminar of Guangdong Province was held in Shenzhen. The Guangdong University Alumni Research Association sponsored the event, which was hosted by the Alumni Association of the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). 30 University Alumni Associations came together to discuss the development and innovation of alumni work. SUSTech University Council Vice Chairperson Li Fengliang attended the seminar. 

Vice Chairperson Li Fengliang introduced SUSTech and the features of its alumni work to the seminar. He said that alumni are an indispensable force for university development. He hoped university alumni could learn from each other and jointly promote development and innovation of alumni work in universities.

Dean of the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Liu Ke talked about “The influence of alumni in the construction of first-class international universities.” He analyzed the current situation of alumni work of first-class international universities from three aspects. He looked at the mission of modern alumni associations, the model of American alumni associations and the Future Enterprise Leadership training program. Dean Liu Ke then put forward some new ideas for alumni work.

Secretary-general of Nanjing University Alumni Association Zhang Suogeng spoke about the history and logic of alumni work. He introduced the development of alumni work in universities for more than 40 years. He took an in-depth approach in looking at how to promote the stable and lasting development of alumni work.

Many high-profile alumni officers from across China spoke at the seminar, reflecting on their alumni work practices. During the round-table discussion session, there were detailed discussions about alumni work. The participants visited SUSTech at the end of the seminar to learn about our unique characteristics.
