Over Half of the First-year Graduates of Mathematics Department are Eligible for World-class Universities

Time flies. The first batch of graduates of the Mathematics Department are going to graduate soon. They made a wonderful start for Mathematics Department with over half of the students going to the top-notch universities for further study. There are three students who have got access to the finals of recommendation of excellent graduates in Southern University of Science and Technology.

There are 30 graduates from Mathematics Department this year. They all majored in Financial Mathematics. Up to now, 15 of them have got admissions of foreign universities, including Colombia University, New York University, Boston University, the University of Pennsylvania, University of Southern California and some other world’s top universities.

Among these 15 students, student Lin Yang received admission notices for a Master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania, New York University, Pepperdine University, the University of Michigan, Duke University and other prestigious universities, and an admission notice of joint doctoral program at Hong Kong University. Liu Ke was admitted to the majors for Master’s degree including Actuarial Science of Colombia University, Financial Mathematics of University of Southern California, Financial Engineering of University of Illinois Urbana Champaign and Financial Mathematics of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He Yan received admission notices for a Master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University, Colombia University, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and a PhD admission notice from Singapore Management University. Mao Hongyu was admitted to the Financial Mathematics major for Master’s degree including the universities of Edinburgh, King’s College London, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Imperial College London, and an Economics major at the University of Hong Kong. Lin Sheng received the admission notice for Financial Mathematics major at Boston University and Financial Engineering at Baruch College (Baruch College). Wang Yifu received the PhD admission notice from Purdue University for Mathematics. Guo Wei was admitted to Hong Kong University of Science and Technology for a Master’s degree, majoring in Financial Mathematics and Data Technology. Zeng Sipeng was admitted to the Harbin Institute of technology. Liu Wenwen received admission notices for a Master’s degree from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and the EU Eramus program. In addition, there are a number of outstanding students who have captured the attention of famous universities from place to place.

The first-year graduates of Mathematics Department achieved remarkable success, and we look forward to their glorious achievement in a new stage of life!
