Recently, the First International Summit Forum for Chinese Orthopedics was held in SUSTech. Guo Liang, Member of Innovation of Science and Technology Commission of Shenzhen Municipality, Wang Yanmei, Secretary of Shenzhen Life Science and Biotechnology Association (LSBA), and Wu Chuanyue, Vice President of SUSTech, together with 45 internationally renowned Chinese experts and scholars on orthopedics attended the forum. The forum was presided over by Xiao Guozhi, Director of Department of Biology of SUSTech.

In the Opening Ceremony, Wu Chuanyue welcomed, on behalf of SUSTech, the presence of scholars and experts, and expressed his gratitude to them for their support and love for SUSTech.

Xiao Guozhi extended his thanks to Innovation of Science and Technology Commission of Shenzhen Municipality and LSBA for their support to the development of SUSTech. He hoped to take this opportunity to build a platform of interaction and communication for outstanding Chinese experts in orthopedics to show the progress made in treatment techniques and up-to-date advances on orthopedics and to further promote the application and innovation of international treatment techniques of orthopedics.   

During the symposium, the experts reported the latest research findings in their respective fields. Centering on “Enhance International Academic Exchanges, and Promote the Development of Orthopedics”, they discussed how to improve China’s research on bone-related diseases and provided new ideas for the prevention and treatment of orthopedic diseases.

During the forum, the attendees also visited Huawei.

Experts and scholars present at the forum included Prof. Cao Xu, Director of Center for Musculoskeletal Research, Johns Hopkins University; Prof. Chen Di, Director of Department of Biochemistry, Ross University; Prof. Edward Guo, Deputy Director of Department of Biomedical Engineering, Columbia University; Prof. Liu Chuanju, Director of Clinical and Translational Science Institute, New York University; and Prof. Xu Jiake, Professor of University of Western Australia.
