SUSTech Martial Arts Team wins gold again

As part of the 10th Universiade of Guangdong Province, the Martial Arts Routine Competition was held at Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (University City Campus) last week. SUSTech student Li Daifeng won the men’s A championship, which is SUSTech’s second gold medal at the Universiade this year.

Li Daifeng also came second in the men’s boxing competition. Jiang Hengfeng came sixth in the men’s Tai Chi sword competition. Shao Shiyao and Chen Zaizhu won the athlete’s sportsmanship award. Coach and Sports Center teacher Dong Lunhong earned the award for Best Coach while his colleague Wei Weicheng received the Sportsman’s Sportsmanship Award.

In 2019, the Martial Arts Routine Competition of the 10th Universiade of Guangdong Province had 675 participants from 66 colleges and universities. To prepare for this competition, the SUSTech team started to prepare in their spare time from February. The team showed the true spirit of SUSTech in their success.

Previously, junior student Zhang Wei and sophomore student Han Jianzheng won the men’s doubles championship in the table tennis competition, representing the first gold medal won by SUSTech at this Universiade.
