In late May, the Department of Earth and Space Sciences at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) hosted the launch meeting of the Solid Geophysics and China Earthquake Science Development Strategy research projects.
Academician Chen Xiaofei from the Department of Earth and Space Sciences worked with fellow academician Shi Yaolin from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in organizing the meeting. They were joined by more than 70 experts and scholars from related fields.
27 keynote reports were given, covering the latest developments in seismology, geomagnetism, geodynamics, geophysical inversion and exploration.
The meeting sought to explore development trends in solid geophysics in the medium term, while probing cutting-edge scientific issues in resource exploration and natural disaster prevention. The experts and scholars promoted the development of national scientific research platforms and discussed important solid geophysics issues.
