SUSTech Holds Biomedical Engineering First Symposium

On August 9 and 15, SUSTech held Biomedical Engineering First Symposium. President Chen Shiyi, heads of Department of Biomedical Engineering and Department of Materials Science and Engineering, and student representatives attended the event.

At the symposium, Chen Shiyi introduced the economic and social development of Shenzhen as well as the good atmosphere for innovation and entrepreneurship in the city. Based on his recent visit to UK and efforts made by the university to pursue internationalization, Chen hoped SUSTech could cooperate with Columbia University to promote the development of SUSTech’s Department of Biomedical Engineering, increase exchanges with international colleges and universities, and advance the international education of the university.

Experts giving reports

Experts and entrepreneurs from Columbia University, Stony Brook University, Duke University, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, University of Toronto, Georgia Institute of Technology, University of California, San Diego, Institute of Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, University of Sydney, and Suzhou Innomed Medical Devices Co., Ltd. gave reports on biomedical engineering. The symposium is the first one of its kind on biomedical engineering held by SUSTech. It covered the latest research findings made by different colleges and universities in the field of biomedical engineering in the world, applications of researches on biomedical engineering, the macro policy of China’s biomedical engineering and Chinese people’s demands for medical care.
