On August 23, 2016, the Parent Meeting for Undergraduate Class of 2013, chaired by President Chen Shiyi, was held in Shuren College. Altogether 8 parent representatives from all over China attended the meeting. Relevant heads of Office of General Affairs, Office of Human Resource, Office of Student Affairs, Office of Education Affairs, Graduate School and Shuren College also attended the meeting.

Chen thanked the parents for their care and support for SUSTech, and hoped to exchange views with them on student management and cultivation. “The goal of SUSTech is to cultivate talents who meet the needs of our country. In order to achieve this goal, the University implements collegiate system, tutorial system and ‘2+2’ mode to provide personalized, internationalized and elite education. SUSTech also strives to deal with present questions and difficulties.” said Chen. He encouraged the parents to offer advice for the development of SUSTech.
Heads of SUSTech introduce the University
Han Wei, Deputy Director of SUSTech Preparatory Office and Director of Office of Human Resource, introduced the development program of SUSTech’s general education. Xue Zheng, Director of Office of Student Affairs, talked about the enrollment and employment of graduates of class of 2012 and the enrollment and employment intention of graduates of class of 2013. Wang Dejun, Director of Office of Education Affairs, briefed on the student cultivation and management mode of collegiate system and tutorial system. Wang Yang, Vice Dean of Graduate School, gave an introduction to SUSTech’s employment situation and policies.
Parent representatives offer advice
The parent representatives showed their concern for the development of SUSTech and had full expectations that the students would have a bright future. They also put forward frequently-asked questions, such as the calculation and announcement of students’ GPA, the publication of information about teachers and scientific research, guidance on selecting majors and courses of general education, which were answered by President Chen and relevant heads. Through the meeting, the parent representatives had a deeper understanding of the school-running ideal, thoughts and modes of SUSTech and were more confident of students’ healthy development.
