Last week, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) hosted a meeting for transnational-education (TNE) undergraduate program in clinical medicine. The meeting, organized by the SUSTech School of Medicine, invited experts from across mainland China to discuss the training of undergraduates in clinical medicine. SUSTech Vice President Lu Chun attended the meeting.

Prof. Zhang Wenyong, Associate Director of Undergraduate Education of SUSTech School of Medicine, briefed the audience about the undergraduate program within a TNE cooperative system. The experts discussed various elements of professional training modes, curriculum setting and teacher strengths, before presenting some recommendations.

The attending experts agreed that SUSTech School of Medicine, being developed in conjunction with King’s College London (KCL), bears all the requirements of an internationalized clinical medicine program that meets national and regional healthcare needs. The cooperation of SUSTech and KCL will play a key role on enhancing the level of health care across the Greater Bay Area and establishing an integrated and innovative “new medicine” discipline in the near future.
