Last week, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) opened its first exhibition of master’s students’ engineering achievements. The School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (IE-School) worked with the Graduate School to organize the exhibition, which attracted nearly 100 experts and scholars from industries both inside and outside SUSTech.
SUSTech University Council Chairperson Guo Yurong, Chief Financial Officer Ye Qin, Director of the Office of Planning and Development & Major Projects Office Wang Susheng and Dean of the IE-School, Academician Liu Ke all attended the launch of the exhibition. Deputy Dean of the IE-School Shao Liyang hosted the launch.
Chairperson Guo Yurong said that the Master of Engineering program is a bridge to link between SUSTech and high-tech enterprises & entrepreneurs in Shenzhen. She hoped that the IE-School a the Graduate School would continue to focus on training high-quality engineering graduates, improving cooperation for industry-university research and developing SUSTech’s talent pipeline. Guo Yurong anticipated that they would investigate innovative new paths and methods in their development of new scientific and technological leaders for Shenzhen.
Dean Liu Ke introduced the innovative initiatives of the Master of Engineering program, then Deputy Dean Shao Liyang presented the educational efforts made by both the IE-School and the Graduate School.
Eight students took to the stage to present their projects, covering a wide range of practical applications. The guests determined that Li Gan’s project for the “Development of Semi-solid Slurry Making Process and Equipment of 7075 Aluminum Alloy” was the winner. Five industry mentors presented awards for outstanding engineering works.
The launch also saw Deputy Dean Shao Liyang sign cooperative industry-university research agreements with Shenzhen Gas Co., Ltd., Han’s Laser Technology Industry Group Co., Ltd. and Shenzhen Weibond Technology Co., Ltd. on behalf of SUSTech.
