Earlier this week, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) and Qinghai Normal University (QNU) met to sign a strategic cooperation agreement. SUSTech University Council Chairperson Guo Yurong, President Chen Shiyi, University Council Vice Chairperson Li Fengliang and other key SUSTech leaders joined QNU Party Committee Secretary Zhang Xiongwei, President Shi Peijun and Vice President Ye Chengfu at the signing ceremony.

The two university presidents signed the strategic cooperation agreement, which commits them to working together to mutually beneficial outcomes while serving nationally strategic industries. It also seeks to support social and economic development through maximizing the complementary resource differential between coastal cities and the Qinghai-Tibet plateau.

The agreements aim to fully implement the Framework Agreement of Strategic Cooperation between the Shenzhen People’s Government and the Qinghai Provincial People’s Government. It also reflects a concrete measure for supporting Tibet & Qinghai, opening up a new area of cooperation between the two institutions.

Established in 1956, Qinghai Normal University has a complete higher education system. It is a provincial key university with coordinated development of multiple disciplines in the liberal arts, science and technology and important support for teacher education within the plateau region and ethnic groups. QNU is a doctoral conferment institution, a national Tibetan-Chinese bilingual talent training base, and was included in the second batch of demonstration universities for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform by the Ministry of Education.
