On the afternoon of September 22, 2016, representatives of 28 famous enterprises from Nanshan Zhiyuan (Intelligent Parks, Shengzhen) were invited to SUSTech for a forum concerning the employment of SUSTech’s students. Yao Xin,chair of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering; Chen Yifan,chair of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering; Xu Baomin, Dean of Zhiren College and Xue Zheng, Director of the office of Student Affairs attended the forum.

During the forum, Director Yao Xin introduced the faculty of his Department and the future development plan of “artificial intelligence (AI), data science, autonomous system, Internet of Things and information security (IS)”. Professor Xu Baomin introduced the key research orientation of Department of Material Science and Engineering regarding micro-electronics, energy materials and instruments, organic materials and biomaterials. Director Chen Yifan introduced the disciplinary development and talents cultivation of Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. They said that the discipline construction plan of SUSTech, which was closely integrated with the development of industry in Shenzhen, could meet the demand for advanced talents, and hoped that SUSTech could continue cooperation with the present enterprise representatives.

During the Q&A session, the representatives actively raised their questions, which then were expounded by the professors. Having been informed the internship condition of the SUSTech students, they hoped to cooperate more with each department through industry-university initiatives so as to realize a win-win situation.

During their stay at SUSTech, the representatives paid a visit to the sand table of SUSTech construction plan and the Testing Center, which bettered their understanding of SUSTech’s development idea, construction plan, scientific research and the environment of talents cultivation.
