3 Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) students from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) recently took part in the 7th National Metallographic Skills Competition for College Students.

SUSTech students and faculty members were awarded in the competition, including Chen Yong (Class of 2020) earned a first prize, Wang Junwei (Class of 2020) and Cao Yulin (Class of 2021) won second prizes. Professor Ye Fei and Teacher Ming Jing won Excellent Instructors awards.

The competition is sponsored by both the Chinese Society of Stereology and Xi’an Shiyou University and seeks to promote learning and training in metallographic skills. It also aims to fully mobilize students’ passion and stimulate their innovative ability.

Metallographic skills are the most basic experimental means for observation and analysis of material microstructure in material science and engineering, including preparation of metallographic samples and observation of microstructure.

The Competition was hosted by Shaanxi University of Science and University.
