SUSTech and HKUST signed a doctoral training agreement in November 2015. Under this agreement, the two sides will jointly admit 20 doctoral candidates annually. They will study at both universities for two years each and will be directed by tutors from both countries. The 2016 class has opened. As a pilot university for the comprehensive reform of national higher education, SUSTech has transferred a lot of students to world-renowned universities and become an important source of outstanding students for HKUST.
