Earlier this week, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) President Chen Shiyi welcomed Shenzhen Deputy Mayor Ai Xuefeng to campus. Deputy Mayor Ai Xuefeng was joined by top officials from several government departments, while senior leaders from across SUSTech accompanied President Chen Shiyi.

As part of the meeting, both sides discussed a number of issues, including the construction plans for the Xili Lake laboratory and the Science & Technology Research Institute of Guangming Science City. President Chen Shiyi made several recommendations about both construction plans.

President Chen commented that Shenzhen’s comprehensive national science center can closely combine urban characteristics and positioning to maximize the benefits to Shenzhen’s high-tech industries such as integrated circuits, artificial intelligence and robotics.

Deputy Mayor Ai Xuefeng continued his strong support for SUSTech’s rapid development and outstanding achievements. He pointed out that SUSTech should continue its role as a pioneer of innovative university reform. SUSTech would continue to work towards the development of a modern, international and innovative Shenzhen.
