The Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences (CSES) recently awarded Associate Professor Feng Lian from the School of Environmental Science and Engineering (ESE) at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) with a Young Scientist Award at its 2019 Annual Science and Technology Meeting.

The 2nd CSES Young Scientist Award was established to encourage outstanding young scientists under 40 who are engaged in environmental science and technology research.

Feng Lian presided over or participated in more than 10 scientific research projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). He has published more than 60 SCI papers, more than half of which were published in top journals such as Remote Sensing of Environment, Journal of Geophysical Research, Environmental Science & Technology, while reviewing contributions of many academic journals (>150 times). His research work has been reported by CCTV, NASA, IOCCG, etc. and has been successfully applied in important government departments across China. He also served as an associate editor of IEEE Access, reviewer of the Earth Observation Project of the Belgian Science and Technology Policy Office, and the young and general projects for NSFC.

CSES was established in 1978 with the approval of the China Association for Science and Technology.
