On the afternoon of November 4, 2016, a delegation led by Ai Xuefeng, Vice Mayor of Shenzhen visited Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). Council Chairperson Guo Yurong, President Chen Shiyi and other executives of SUSTech attended the meeting with the visitors.

At the meeting, Guo introduced the composition of SUSTech’s leading body and expressed thanks to the municipal government for its concern and support.

Chen briefly introduced the latest development and further development plan of SUSTech.

Shenzhen should step up efforts to build an international technology industry innovation center and SUSTech is an important support, said Ai. He spoke highly of SUSTech’s progress and model of running, noted that “SUSTech should be built into a high-level university highly sensitive to Shenzhen’s economic and social development”, and encouraged SUSTech to turn its educational research findings into the substantial strength of serving Shenzhen’s economic and social development. The visitors also listened to a report on the cooperation between SUSTech and prestigious foreign universities, and offered guiding opinions on the globalization of SUSTech.

Tang Lixia, Director of the Shenzhen Foreign Affairs Office; Wu Sikang, Director of the Development Research Center of Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government; heads of the Shenzhen Development and Reform Commission, the Shenzhen Science & Technology Innovation Commission, the Shenzhen Education Bureau and other relevant departments, as well as Vice President Wu Chuanyue, Vice President Tang Tao and other executives of SUSTech attended the meeting.
