On November 17, ceremony of “Paying Tribute to 2016 Modern Gentleman in Shenzhen” was held grandly as an important link of “Shenzhen Gentleman Meeting- Shenzhen International Exchange and Cooperation Gala”. 6 people obtained the title of “2016 Modern Gentleman in Shenzhen” finally. Professor Zhang Xumu (Chair of Department of Chemistry) had won the award. Xu Qin (Mayor of Shenzhen) presented the awards to the winners.
“Gentleman in Shenzhen” is the honorific title of flag characters that care for the local and international scope by Shenzhen Foundation for International Exchange and Cooperation (hereinafter referred to as “Foundation”). “Paying Tribute to 2016 Modern Gentleman in Shenzhen” was built by Foundation and Shenzhen Evening News, which was the first annual list for in Shenzhen International Exchange and Cooperation field. It aims to commending all people who made contribution to the international construction of the city and it has given energy and power for the development of Shenzhen International Exchange and Cooperation.
In the selection, a total of 82 government departments, social institutions, industry associations, and representative enterprises have involved in the election, covering economy, innovation, culture, education, society, public benefits and other areas. Totally 23 people stood out of nearly 100 people and entered into the final assessment. After the careful jury and vote of nearly 2 million people, 6 “2016 Modern Gentleman in Shenzhen” were selected finally.
Professor Zhang Xumu is the distinguished expert of national “The Recruitment Program of Global Experts”. In 2015, the major drug green synthesis team lead by him was selected into the Shenzhen Overseas High-level Talent “Peacock” Team. After he began to teach in Southern University of Science and Technology, he had been committed to closing the distance between Shenzhen research and education and international advanced field.
