The 7th China International New Media Short Film Festival-“Colleges Day” held at SUSTech

From October 26 to 27, 2016, the 7th China International New Media Short Film Festival-“Colleges Day” was held at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). William Feng, Vice President of Asia Pacific and Head of Greater China, Motion Picture Association of America; Zheng Dingwen, Deputy General Manager of Shenzhen Media Group; Liao Xiangzhong, Vice President of Communication University of China; Li Fengliang, Vice-Chairperson of University Council, SUSTech; as well as over 300 teachers and students from 18 film & television and media universities across the country participated in this event.

At the opening ceremony, Li extended warm welcome to all guests on behalf of SUSTech and wished the 7th China International New Media Short Film Festival-“Colleges Day” a great success. SUSTech is a rising innovation-oriented university which aims to become a world top university, said him. He noted that new media is very important in this age, which will bring a feast of thinking at the new university. SUSTech is a university of science and engineering which values the humanistic quality of students, hopefully students will take this opportunity to improve themselves, he added.

 

This event included five parts: New Media Short Film Director Dialogue Forum, Master Lecture, Short Film Screening, Screening of Outstanding Works in National University Student One-Minute Video Competition and International Short Film Screening and Director-University Matchmaking. The first session of Master Lecture was a lecture entitled Cameron Gives the World the Best 3D Dream from Gordon Cheng, President of Cameron Pace Group China, in which he reviewed the origin and development of 3D technology and the skills of 3D equipment use; the second session was a lecture entitled From Warehouse Keeper to Comedy Director from renowned Hong Kong comedy director Lee Lik-chi, in which he shared his experience in directing with his hit film King of Comedy.
