On January 7, 2017, the Southern International Collaborative Innovation Forum was held at the lecture hall of the No. 1 research building of Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). The forum aims to integrate universities, intelligent manufacturing and manufacturers, effectively linking the entrepreneurship chain, industry chain and capital chain, and promote the application and development of intelligent manufacturing technologies. Over 50 experts in the Recruitment Program of Global Experts and distinguished experts from the intelligent manufacturing field presented over 80 intelligent manufacturing technologies. Over 260 renowned manufacturers from enterprises such as Schneider, Huawei and Skyworth communicated with over 30 institutional financial investors such as Shenzhen Capital Group Co., Ltd. and Share Capital. Wang Duoxiang, Vice President of SUSTech, attended and addressed the forum. Xu Zhenghe, a fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering and Dean of the School of Engineering, SUSTech and Zhang Zuotai, Deputy Director of the Technology Transfer Center presided over the forum.

In his speech, Wang said that innovation competition is actually innovation system competition, and the organization system is the core of the innovation system. Only the long-term close interaction and cooperation between large groups engaged in basic research, industrial development and demonstrative application will lay a solid foundation for the innovation system and make innovation activities more efficient and effective. Based on the forum, SUSTech will continue to carry forward the spirit of research, innovation and entrepreneurship, deepen its cooperation with enterprises and advance production-learning-research integration, so as to make a substantial contribution to economic and social development, he added.

At the forum, Zhang Dongdong, Director of the School Department of the CYL Shenzhen Municipal Committee, introduced the committee’s support policies for innovation and entrepreneurship. Luo Lin, Associate Dean of the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, SUSTech, gave a lecture on production-learning-research integration. The industrial tutor appointment ceremony of SUSTech was held at the forum. Seven renowned entrepreneurs from enterprises such as Schneider Electric and OCT received letters of appointment from SUSTech.

At the forum, Zhu Hai, former Executive Vice President of Schneider Electric and President of Schneider Electric China, gave a keynote lecture entitled “Thought on Intelligent Manufacturing and Suggestions”, sharing the development process and model of intelligent manufacturing, as well as notes in intelligent manufacturing development. Rong Yiming, Yang Shuanghua and Cheng Xin, SUSTech’s experts in the Recruit Program of Global Experts; Zhang Xinhai, a “Peacock Team” leader; Xiong Qingping, Vice President of Wuhan Huazhong Numerical Control Co., Ltd.; and Zhang Jun, a partner of Cybernaut and Chairman of the China Intelligent Hardware Industry Association gave keynote lectures.

During the forum, the attendees discussed issues such as “intelligent manufacturing and advanced forming technologies”, “advanced manufacturing materials”, “intelligent information systems” and “electronic information and optoelectronic devices”.

The forum was organized by SUSTech, the CYL Shenzhen Municipal Committee and the Shenzhen Development and Reform Commission, and co-organized by the Shenzhen Technology Transfer Promotion Center, the Futian Science & Technology Bureau, the Longgang Science & Technology Innovation Bureau, the Nanshan Science & Technology Innovation Bureau, the Longhua Economic Service Bureau and the Baoan Science & Technology Bureau.
