The university recently held a field assessment of it’s Computer Science and Technology course in order for it to be evaluated in the eyes of experts in the field.

5 famous specialists were commissioned for the review, including:- Professor Li Yuanqing: IEEE Fellow, Dean of the School of Automation Science and Engineering, South China University of Technology- Professor Xu Chengzhong: Leader of Guangdong Province, Advanced Research and Digital Engineering Research, Shenzhen Advanced Technology Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences- Professor Tang Yong: Director of Computer Science and Technology Research Institute of Shenzhen Graduate School of Tsinghua University- Professor Liu Hong : First round of national “million people plan” experts, Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School, Director of Scientific Research Department.- Dean of the School of Computer Science, South China Normal University

The experts visited the Department of Computer Science and Engineering’s laboratory and facilities, and concluded an in-depth report which reviewed professional research reports, professor and student experiences and interviews, field visits and feedback from other specialists. The department’s director Yao Xin and deputy director Hao Qi held a meeting about the structure of the department and it’s future ambitions, and answered to a Q&A session.

The conclusion of the panel was that SUSTech’s department of Computer Science and Technology held up the high standards of the industry and so was qualified to award bachelors’ degrees to it’s students. They explained that “with the high level of education and research and international talent training at the core of the department, we hope SUSTech will continue to develop a strong faculty team and learning environment in line with the national standards.”, and also gave constructive feedback to the department on how to improve.
